Day 1
CUSCO – LARES- HUACAHUASI
Pick-up from your hotel at 6:00 a.m. Our transport will take us to Calca, where we will stop for breakfast and take a short tour of the typical Calca market. We will continue to the “Abra de Hualcapunku” (4300 meters above sea level), where we can enjoy the view of the snow-capped Ausangate mountain, the highest mountain in the Cuzco region (6370 meters above sea level). Finally, our transport takes us to the hot springs of Lares, where we have time to enjoy the baths.
Afterwards, we have lunch and prepare for our hike to Hucahuasi (3,800 meters above sea level / 12,467 feet), where we will spend the night in the simple Huacahuasi Hostel or similar.
Day 2
HUACAHUASI – PATACANCHA
In the morning, we enjoy breakfast before beginning our hike to Abra de Ipsaycocha, where we have a beautiful view of the Vilcanota mountain range. We then descend to the Ipsaycocha lagoon overlooking the Patacancha Valley, where lunch awaits us.
After lunch, we drive from Patacancha to Ollantaytambo, where we have dinner at a restaurant and spend the night at the 3* Boutique Hotel SAUCE or similar.
Day 3
OLLANTAYTAMBO-KM104-CHACHABAMBA-WIÑAYHUAYNA-MACHU PICCHU
At 5:20 a.m., you will be picked up from your hotel and taken to Ollantaytambo train station. We will board the train at around 6:10 a.m. and travel for approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes to KM 104. There is an entrance control point there, where we will need to present our ORIGINAL DOCUMENTS for registration. Then we will begin our Inca Trail, passing the archaeological site of Chachabamba and then beginning the ascent up the mountain for about 3 hours until we reach the archaeological complex of Wiñayhuayna (2650 m / 8694 ft), where we will take a break and enjoy our lunch.
We continue our hike to Inti Punku (Sun Gate). From here, we have one of the classic views of Machu Picchu. After taking some photos, we head to the checkpoint and then take the bus down to the town of Aguas Calientes, where we stay at the 3-star Hotel El Mapi or similar (breakfast and private bathroom included).
Day 4
AGUAS CALIENTES-MACHU PICCHU-CUSCO
After breakfast at the hotel, we take the first bus to the Inca city of Machu Picchu. At the checkpoint, we show our second ticket to visit the archaeological site of Machu Picchu. The guided tour lasts about two hours, after which the tour guide will give you some time to explore and enjoy the site on your own. After a wonderful experience in Machu Picchu, we will return to the town of Aguas Calientes to take the train to Ollantaytambo, where our transport will be waiting to take us by bus to Cusco and drop you off at your hotel.
