Day 1

Your tour starts in the morning in Quito.

A bus picks you up in Quito and after a four hour drive you will reach the airport of shell. After a short layover a plane takes you to Bameno.

Your flight to Bameno takes around one hour and you land in the middle of the Amazon.

Arrival in Huaorani Territory

Here, the most remote tribes of the Amazon region welcome you, and you have the opportunity to visit some of the leaders from the Huaorani, including Kempery, the legendary shaman and leader of the Huaorani. Later you travel for 4 hours upstream on the Cononaco river to the village of Omere, one of the most remote villages of the Huaorani tribe, located in the heart of Yasuni National park, close to the intangible zone.

Day 2

Animal clay lick

Today is a day full of extraordinary sights and encounters. The Huaorani guide will lead a hike into the forest to discover an animal clay lick. With some luck, you can spot wild pigs, howler monkeys, macaws and jaguar tracks. Along the trail, the guide will teach you all about the abundance of medicinal plants that are so important in the daily life of his tribe. At night you will embark on a nightly hike to explore the wildlife that only comes out in the dark.

Day 3

Visit the Anakonda Lagoon

After breakfast, you travel 20 minutes down the Cononaco River aboard a motorised canoe. Upon arrival, a path will lead you into the primary forest to a secluded lagoon. Here, you will paddle in a small vessel in search of anacondas. The canoe will take you up the river to Omere for lunch in the afternoon. Afterwards, you will learn about the ancient art of blowgun hunting and how to catch piranhas in a nearby river or lake. After a nice dinner, you will ride up river to the camp, and along the way, you might spot caimans in the water.

Day 4

Trakking through the Amazon

After breakfast, a hike into the virgin jungle begins, and the Huaorani Warriors will teach you their survival skills. Additionally, the lokal women will share their knowledge of local plants. Along the way, you can spot wildlife and follow jaguar tracks. Late in the afternoon, the Huaorani demonstrate and share their culture, handicrafts, histories, customs and traditions.

Day 5

Return to Quito

Early in the morning, after breakfast, you will ride in a motorised canoe for about 4 hours back to the airport in Bameno to take a plane back to Shell.

The flight to Shell takes about one hour, and upon landing, you will return to Quito by car.

Optional: A stop in Baños to see some of the most impressive waterfalls of Ecuador.
